On Monday, Cristiano Ronaldo broke Lionel Messi's run of four straight Ballon d'Or victories with his first since 2008. Ronaldo's tears of joy highlighted the victory speech from the Portuguese superstar.

Some were obviously not happy to see Messi's record broken.

Actually, Ronaldo broke Messi's record for most Champions League group stage goals with nine this year. Furthermore, Messi only managed a little more than 40 goals in 2013 while Ronaldo put together 69 in 59 games. In most other years, Messi's win would be undisputed, but in 2013, it is hard to make a case against Ronaldo.
