Any female would love to kiss Christian Bale, but not America's Sweetheart. Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Bale's wife in 'American Hustle', said that she was disappointed at having to kiss "Fatman" instead of "Batman."

As for the unusual pairing, Director David O. Russell told Yahoo! that he already had the pair in mind even before they met each other.

The director told Us Weekly  that Lawrence, 23, was not impressed with Bale's new look. He told the magazine that Lawrence joked about Bale, saying that, "I finally get to make out with Christian Bale and he's a really fat guy. He's Fatman, not Batman."

Despite Lawrence's frustrations though, the director was impressed with 39-year-old Bale's commitment. The actor has been putting on pounds for his role as a con-artist who was forced by an FBI agent to set up a sting operation on corrupt politicians.

"The shocking thing is that Christian can charm ladies even with the comb over and the belly because it comes from confidence and heart," Russell said in a report by EMag UK. The director's remark somehow suggests that Bale's personality is more than enough to charm the ladies.

Lawrence was not spared by the director's wits.

"Talk about 12 years a slave, that's what the franchise is. 'The Hunger Games' - they just keep her on a hamster wheel! And then she comes and takes her [three week] vacation, because she wants to do original roles, [and] spends her vacation [making] 'American Hustle'," O. Russell told Yahoo!

"[She] said 'I want to do this real housewife from Long Island. I want to freak people out.' Then she goes back to work in the salt mines on 'Hunger Games' because she loves her work."

Russell also praised Lawrence for her work - saying that the actress is "a very alive person ... but I think she's going to take a break now."

Lawrence may not be able to make out with Batman, but she may be able to take a break with her beau, 'X-Men: First Class' and 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' co-star, Nicholas Hoult.
