Iker Casillas' partner Sara Carbonero has given birth to the couple's first baby boy.

The child has been named Martin and apparently weights 3.85 kilos (8.5 pounds) according to reports.

"I want to share with you the most important and moving moment of my life: the birth of my son," said Casillas, according to NDTV Sports.

The baby was born in Madrid after Carbonero was admitted into the Clinica Ruber Internacional at 8 a.m. on Jan. 3. Reports indicate that Carbonero underwent a C-section.

The birth of Martin will surely give the superstar some respite from what was a tumultuous 2013. He was injured late in 2012 and found himself benched for the end of the 2012-13 season. Many speculated that the keeper's problems with former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho were at the root of the benching and that he would regain the top spot for his club under new coach Carlo Ancelotti. That has not been the case and the keeper has been relegated to backup duties and occasional appearances in the Champions League and Copa del Rey. Many wonder whether Casillas will be looking to leave Madrid during this transfer window, but the birth of his child could complicate matters significantly. Will the 32-year-old really look to move to another country with his new-born?

Casillas could stay with Madrid and battle for the Champions League trophy, but he could also lose his spot as Spain's top keeper in Brazil next summer. He already has tremendous competition from Victor Valdes, who has been a dominant presence in Barcelona's goal.
