The young Prince George was nowhere to be seen during the traditional Christmas Church Service of the royal family, but four generations of royalty gathered this year at the Queen's Sandringham estate in Norfolk - an event that has not happened since the reign of Queen Victoria.
Queen Elizabeth II arrived for the service at St. Mary Magdalene Church wearing an orange coat and black fur hat, accompanied by Zara Phillips, her granddaughter.
Crowds of well-wishers hoping to catch a glimpse of baby George, however, were disappointed when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did not bring their five-month-old with them at the service.
According to Telegraph U.K., an onlooker even shouted, "where's the baby?" as William and Kate walked by, hand in hand, to the church.
Among the members who attended the service were the Queen, the Prince of Wales, and Prince Harry.
The Queen and the Duchess were seen to sport a range of outfits on the course of the morning, making quick changes after their private family service.
Kate was seen wearing a beige, knee-length coat and a tartan shawl earlier in the day, before changing into her Tartan Alexander McQueen coat and a hat made by Gina Foster.
The Queen, on the other hand, sported a brown fur coat before changing into her orange Stewart Parvin cashmere coat, fur hat, and a diamond brooch.
Following another tradition, the Queen also delivered her Christmas message, where she urged on reflection. In the same speech, she also paid tribute to family and milestones.
"With so many distractions, it is easy to forget to pause and take stock," she said on the pre-recorded message.
She touched on every prominent events over the year, the 60th anniversary of her coronation and the birth of George included.
Also in her message were contemplations on the role of the Commonwealth, as well as a look on the Commonwealth Games that will be held next year in Glasgow.
