It has been confirmed that Marvel Studios are doing reshoots for Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. According to The Daily Superhero, there will be two days worth of reshoots on December 16 and 17, cast and crew are then given their holiday break and shooting will commence, for another two weeks after the holidays, on January 2014.
In a report made by Yahoo!, it is still unclear which actors will be doing the reshoots, but "'Captain America's' April 4 release date is unlikely to be shifted to accommodate these scenes so they'll only have three months to add them in."
For the fans who are concerned about the effect that this reshoot will have on the film, this is hardly unusual for Marvel. Iron Man 3 did a week's worth of reshoots to improve its ending, and and the extra days that the studio put in for Thor 2 added more Loki scenes, much to the fans' delight.
According to Enstarz.com, there are rumors that Chris Evans may not be returning for the third film, as Steve Rogers may be killed off in Captain America 2, or in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is scheduled to be released in 2015. The rumors began circulating when it was revealed that the upcoming films will feature Rumlow/Crossbones, who, in the comics, played a large role in the death of Steve Rogers, which then lead the Winter Soldier's taking up the captain's shield and becoming the new Captain America.
Frank Grillo, who plays Crossbones in Captain America 2, hinted in an interview with Crave Online, that there are several characters featured in Winter Soldier who will reappear in later Marvel Films. "It's an origin film. You meet people who are going to be around for a while, so they introduce the characters. It's almost like a series. It's fun."
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will open in theaters on April 4,2014.
