The trailer to Tom Cruise's "Edge of Tomorrow" has been released.

The new film, directed by Doug Liman, tells the story of a soldier fighting in a war with aliens who finds himself caught in a time loop of his last day in the battle. However, he becomes better skilled along the way.

The new also stars Emily Blunt and is based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka's award-winning novel "All You Need Is Kill." Dante Harper, Christopher McQuarrie, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Joby Harold wrote the script.

The movie comes a year after Cruise's last science-fiction film "Oblivion." The actor has recently been featured in the action flicks "Jack Reacher," "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" and "Knight and Day." He has also been seen in "Rock of Ages," "Tropic Thunder," "Lions for Lambs" and "War of the Worlds." Cruise has also been nominated for three Academy Awards for his roles in "Magnolia," "Jerry Maguire" and "Born on the Fourth of July."

Blunt is best known for her work in "The Adjustment Bureau," "The Devil Wears Prada," "Looper" and "The Young Victoria." She has also been seen in "The Wolf Man," "Your Sister's Sister" and "Charlie Wilson's War."

Liman has recently directed "Fair Game" with Sean Penn and Naomi Watts, as well as "Jumper," "Go" and "The Bourne Identity." He has also made "Swingers" and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."

"Edge of Tomorrow" also stars Bill Paxton, Laura Pulver and Jeremy Piven. Warner Bros. will release the film on June 6, 2014.
