Warner Bros. has released the new teaser trailer to "Godzilla."

According to Warner Bros., the new movie is an epic rebirth of Toho's iconic "Godzilla" and pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

The new trailer features a voice by David Straihairn ("Good Night and Good Luck") directing the U.S. army during a mission. It also features shots of people running and glimpses of "Godzilla." Elizabeth Olsen ("Martha Marcy May Marlene") and Aaron Taylor-Johnson ("Kick-Ass, "Anna Karenina") also appear in a number of shots.

The new film is directed by Gareth Edwards ("Monsters") and also stars Ken Watanabe ("Batman Begins," "Inception"), Sally Hawkins ("Blue Jasmine,"), and Juliette Binoche ("The English Patient," "Cosmopolis").

The script was written by Max Borenstein from a story by David Callaham. Meanwhile, Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni produced the movie with Mary Parent and Brian Rogers. Patricia Whitcher and Alex Garcia served as executive producers, alongside Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira.

"Godzilla" is the first live-action movie based on the famous monster to be filmed since "Godzilla" in 1998. Sony also released another film entitled "Godzilla 2000."

Warner Bros. is coming off a successful year with hits such as "Gravity," "Man of Steel," "We're the Millers" and "The Great Gatsby." The distributor next releases the critically-acclaimed Oscar-contender "Her.

The teaser trailer is expected be shown in front of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug." Warner Bros. will release "Godzilla on May 16, 2014 and is expected to be presented in 3-D, 2-D and IMAX® in select theaters.
