Walt Disney studios recently confirmed that they bought the rights to the rest of the Indiana Jones film franchise. Although Paramount will still retain the rights to the previous Harrison Ford movies, Disney remains to be the distributor of future films, according to Entertainment Weekly. Also, in return for the rights, Paramount will receive a cut of the business profits, as they are to have "financial participation to any future films"

There are no current plans to produce another Indiana Jones film, but Harrison Ford has said that he would like to see another film happen. In an interview with Graham Norton, he revealed, "I would do it in a New York minute, yes. I don't think there is any barrier to Indiana Jones being an old fart."

The last Indiana Jones film where Ford reprised his role as the whip-cracking archaeologist was Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, with Shia LaBeouf.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Ford said that a sequel is possible, but he also suggested that it wouldn't require him to do many stunts, should he star in it. Ford explained, "We've seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it's perfectly appropriate and OK for him to come back again with a great movie around him where he doesn't necessarily have to kick as much ass...To me, what was interesting about the character was that he prevailed, that he had courage, that he had wit, that he had intelligence, that he was frightened and that he still managed to survive. That I can do."

According to MTV, Ford may have another Indy film in him, but someone else will have to carry on after, even suggesting that Disney might shake things up and cast an unorthodox version of Dr. Jones. Some names suggested include Michael B. Jordan, Jake Johnson, and even Jennifer Lawrence.
