Alvaro Morata Transfer to Arsenal News: Why Real Madrid Forward Should Head to Gunners for Loan

Should Alvaro Morata head to Arsenal during this transfer window on a loan basis?

The youngster has noted that he wishes to remain with his current club Real Madrid and slowly earn his spot in the starting XI.

"I'm only thinking about winning with Real Madrid," said Morata, according to ESPN. "I'm happy in this team. I'll gradually cement my place in the starting XI. I'm sure of that. My time hasn't yet come."

Morata was originally supposed to be the backup to Karim Benzema in the event that the Frenchman struggled throughout the season. That scenario actually took place, but Coach Carlo Ancelotti repeatedly opted for giving his top striker the chance to get back into top form. Morata and fellow Madrid prospect Jese Rodriguez both featured as subs in a number of games, but the competition in the top XI seems to be too big for the two to overcome. Angel Di Maria, who is undoubtedly among the top offensive players in the world, has had a hard time remaining in the top XI due to competition from Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. Even young Spanish star Isco has had a difficult time remaining in the starting lineup with the likes of Xabi Alonso, Asier Illarramendi and Luka Modric in the fold. Meanwhile, Rodriguez was selected ahead of Modric in a recent Champions League match for "tactical" reasons. Rodriguez is a bigger player with more physical strength than Morata, making him more useful to Ancelotti over the more skilled but smaller striker.

A short loan to Arsenal would benefit Morata immensely as he would get more time to play for the Gunners, as his versatility would give manager Arsene Wenger options. Furthermore, he will get a chance to play in a more physical environment that will strengthen his rather thin physique and prepare him for the rigors of being Madrid's lead striker.
