Mexico set two new world records, first in the capital with the largest urban fashion runway in the world and then in Jalisco by gathering the largest amount of stylists to cut hair at the same time.

Mexican newspaper Milenio reported that the city of Guadalajara, in the state of Jalisco was the meeting point for the 1,257 stylists that cut the hair of 1,257 people last Sunday, November 24.

The Plaza Tapatía was filled with people of all ages that went to help break the world record with the help of various hair styling academies and authorities of Guadalajara. The event had a cost of almost $250,000 pesos which were paid by participating companies.

The Director of Internal Affairs and Sister Cities of Guadalajara, Mario Reynoso, told local news website Unión de Jalisco that the city is one of the most important regarding hair styling in the country, since there are over 4,000 salons in the city.

To help break the world record, the city's stylists and those from other states cut everyone's hair at the same time. Israel Rojas, the director of Salerm Cosmetics told Milenio that with the help of company Gaurrie promoted the event through social networks.

"We began planning the event eight months ago, promoting it to students and on social networks, through representatives of both companies", Rojas said.

On the other hand, at the Forest of Chapultepec in Mexico City, on Saturday, November 23, the city broke the world record for the longest urban fashion runway thanks to fashion design students.

For over two hours, more than 3,000 people participated as models for the designs of over 300 students among which were new proposals, combining ethnical Mexican clothing with things like jeans.

The director of IESModa of Casa de Francia, Emmanuelle M. de Román, told Milenio that Mexican fashion is for everyone since it can be adapted to skinny people, overweight people, short or tall.

The newspaper reported that Salomón Chertovski, the Minister of Economic Development of the Mexican capital, pointed out that after the runway he's willing to support the fashion sector because it's one of the main economic sectors of the city.
