Given that the Google Nexus 5 launched with Android 4.4 KitKat onboard, owners of the Google Nexus 7 tablet might be wondering "when will I get my first taste of KitKat?" While Google hasn't given anything specific, here's when you can expect to see the brand new operating system land on your tablet.

Google released Android 4.4 KitKat alongside the Nexus 5 at an Oct. 31 event, and followed up by stating that the update would hit other stock Android-running devices soon after.

"Android 4.4, KitKat, which comes on Nexus 5, will also soon be available on Nexus 4, 7, 10, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks," Google wrote on the official Android blog Oct. 31.

While "coming weeks" could translate to anything, it's important to keep in mind that Black Friday is coming up, and having the shiniest new operating system onboard will certainly be a selling point when it comes deciding between tablets. Look for Google to start pushing out Android 4.4 KitKat to the rest of its lineup at least a week in advance to get the word out there.

Android 4.4 KitKat will certainly be a treat to Nexus 7 users, as the operating system brings a brand new look to the entire interface. KitKat features a more colorful aesthetic, as well a more clean, spacious one, similar to the direction Apple took with iOS 7 (without the headaches, however). Google has also integrated Google Now into more functions than ever, in hopes of having the intelligent assistant display relevant information before it's even asked, although this will certainly work better with LTE-enabled models.
