Interested in a shiny new handset? One that receives Android updates in a timely manner? More likely than not, you've run across the Google Nexus 5 in your search for that ideal smartphone, and if you've settled on the unlocked version, there's some bad news: it looks like inventories are running out.

The Google Nexus 5 is currently only available through Google Play, Sprint, and Best Buy for U.S. consumers. Only Google Play sells the unlocked version, while both Sprint and Best Buy deals require two-year contracts.

Google Play delivery times for the Nexus 5 have been steadily climbing, but as of Monday, Nov. 11, the 16GB black Nexus 5 is officially out of stock. Buyers interested in the 16GB white model can still snag one, although it won't leave the warehouse for three to four weeks, meaning it'll be halfway through December by the time it arrives. The 16GB Nexus 5 retails for $349.

Those who want more space will be happy to know that Google Play still carries both the black and white versions of the 32GB Nexus 5. The black 32GB Nexus 5 won't leave the warehouse for three to four weeks, while the white 32GB Nexus 5 will leave in two to three weeks. The 32GB Nexus 5 retails for $399.

Both Sprint and Best Buy seem to be in stock, although both retailers require a two-year contract with Sprint at the moment. If that's your cake, Sprint offers a slightly better deal with more rebates.
