Franck Ribery is getting all of the buzz for the Ballon d'Or but his teammate Thomas Muller may be just as worthy of winning the award as him.

The 24-year-old has been terrific for club and country in 2013 and finished the 2012-13 season with 13 goals and 11 assists in 28 Bundesliga matches. Furthermore, he scored an astounding eight goals and two assists in his Champions League championship run; four of those goals came in the knockout rounds that took place in 2013. He scored three of those goals against Barcelona, arguably the most essential victory for the club in the tournament. Also worthy of note is the five goals that Muller put up for his team during the German Cup.

He has been equally terrific during the start of the 2013-14 season with five goals and three assists in just 12 Bundesliga matches this season; he also has 32 shots on goal in that span. He has one goal in the Champions League thus far.

He has also been solid for Germany with two goals in four World Cup qualifiers; he also scored two goals in international friendlies for his club in the 2013-14 season.

But can he win?

Muller's greatest challenge comes from his own club mates. He is competing with five other Munich stars and could lose votes depending on which player is seen as most instrumental to the team's terrific success. Right now Ribery is getting all the honors and that is unlikely to change at this point in time.

Prediction: Muller finishes in the top 10.
