Zack Snyder has revealed new artwork for the upcoming "Batman vs. Superman."

During a live fan event on Yahoo! for the upcoming DVD release of the "Man of Steel," Snyder showed artwork of Batman and Superman fighting each other.

The director also spoke about the conflict between the two iconic superheroes and said that the film would develop the relationship. He said, "The fun of the idea is to be able to play with that relationship. Whether they fight and become friends, or whether they're friends and they fight. ... Of course, some physical conflicts [will be involved]."

The director also addressed the controversial ending of "Man of Steel," which saw Superman kill General Zod. The director said that the film would most likely address the repercussions. He said, "Maybe we'll see the repercussions of that in the next film. Maybe."

The director also addressed the lengthy action sequence, which was criticized by fans and critics. He said, "That was a big thing for me... there's real consequences to this. We're used to seeing all these superhero movies - not to compare, but if you look at 'Avengers,' they trash New York City and no one even mentions the fact that there's thousands of people dying."

He added, "That's why [I made the film] heavy at the end. There's a sadness to the end of the movie. It's not just fun to crash around into cities - there's a human price. And I think that's the thing that weighs on Superman."

"Batman vs. Superman" will star Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. Amy Adams ("Her"), Diane Lane ("Unfaithful") and Laurence Fishburne ("The Matrix") will reprise their roles from "Man of Steel." The film is being written by David Goyer ("Batman Begins") and will be produced by Deborah Snyder ("Man of Steel") and Charles Roven ("The Dark Knight"). Warner Bros. will release the film on July 17, 2015 and will begin principal photography in Detroit, Mich. in February.
