The first weekend of the Apple's newest 9.7-inch tablet has come and gone, and sales figures for the device remain mum.

Apple launched the iPad Air on Nov. 1 in 42 countries, which is the largest debut for an Apple tablet ever. The Cupertino-based organization, however, did not reveal the number of units sold during the first weekend.

Revealing first weekend sales are usually something Apple touts such as the latest debuts of the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. As Latinos Post reported, Apple sold 9 million units of the two smartphones during its first-weekend debut in late September, which were four million units more than the iPhone 5 in September 2012.

Although Apple did not reveal the number of tablets sold so far, mobile carrier AT&T issued a statement regarding the sales of the device. AT&T revealed iPad activations with the carrier tripled during the Nov. 1 weekend.

"iPad activations on AT&T increased more than 200 [percent] over the past three days compared to last year's launch weekend, driven by consumer excitement around the new iPad Air and the popularity of AT&T Mobile Share, which lets customers add an iPad to their existing data plan for just $10 a month," said the mobile carrier in a statement. "We also saw strong demand for AT&T Next, which offers customers an iPad for $0 down on the nation's fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network."

As Latinos Post reported, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, in a note to investors, stated the iPad Air could sell between 2.5 million and 3.5 million units during its first weekend of sales.
