The HTC Windows Phone 8X smartphone has encountered a steep price cut on Amazon.com and stock is running low.

Amazon is offering the HTC Windows Phone 8X for $0.01 as long as the consumer signs a two-year agreement with mobile carrier Verizon Wireless.

The $0.01 price tag is valid for new Verizon Wireless customers or for current subscribers who want to upgrade their device in an individual plan or family plan.

Existing Verizon Wireless customers can also obtain the Windows Phone 8 device for $0.01 if they want to add a new line of service to their account.

Amazon's "Without a Service Plan" price has the HTC Windows Phone 8X at $519.99.

Two sets of HTC Windows Phone 8X smartphones for Verizon Wireless are available on Amazon.com with 16 units remaining in stock as of Nov. 3 at 1 a.m. EST.

Amazon's price is cheaper compared to the offer on Verizon Wireless' official website.

Verizon Wireless is offering the smartphone for $49.99 when signing a two-year contract with the carrier. The consumer can also purchase the smartphone at $0 down but agreeing to pay $16.81 per month as part of the Verizon Edge plan. The final option for Verizon Wireless customers is to pay $399.99 with a month-to-month plan for the Windows Phone 8 device.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X features a 4.3-inch screen with 1,280x720 resolution at 342 pixels per inch. The smartphone is available in a 16GB internal storage model with 1GB of RAM. The device does not come equipped with a microSD card slot for additional memory. In terms of wireless connectivity, the HTC Windows Phone 8X can connect to WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, and NFC. The smartphone is equipped with a rear-facing camera featuring 3,264x2,448 pixels and a front-facing camera with 2.1 megapixels. The smartphone has a battery capacity of 1,800mAh.
