Microsoft's Surface team released a new video touting their second-generation tablet and teamed with a scientist to promote the device.

Surface uploaded a new video on their YouTube account featuring Microsoft's Applied Sciences Group's Director of Research Stevie Bathiche, co-inventor of the Surface tablet.

The new Surface video, a little over 3 minutes in length, Bathiche took the time to discuss the Surface tablet's color rendering accuracy on the display and more.

"The role of a screen's job is to basically render colors as perfectly as possible. That's its the No. 1 and most important job," said Bathiche. "When you do that, colors will look vibrant, they'll look great, they'll look accurate."

The accuracy of the colors was a major focus for Bathiche, noting the colors are at least 46 percent more improved compared to other tablets in the market.

According to Bathiche, he's most proud of the Surface's product, hardware, and software services coming together.

"The whole package is awesome," he added.

Bathiche joined Microsoft's applied research team in 1999 and has invented products for the Redmond-based organization such as the SideWinder Freestyle Pro game pad, which is the first gaming device to utilize accelerometers.

The Surface 2 features a 10.6-inch screen with 1,920x1,080 resolution at 208 pixels per inch. The Surface 2 offers 32GB and 64GB internal storage models with 2GB of RAM and a microSD card slot for an additional 64GB of memory. The Surface 2's rear-facing camera has 5 megapixels with 2,592x1,936 pixels while the front-facing camera is improved with 3.5 megapixels. The second-generation tablet utilizes the new Microsoft Surface 8.1 RT operating system.

The Surface 2 officially launched on Oct. 22, along with fellow second-generation Surface Pro 2, across 22 markets including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States. Meanwhile, China will get to see the tablets sometime in November.

The prices for the Surface 2, as seen on the online Microsoft Store, starts at $449 for the 32GB model and $549 for the 64GB variant.
