Has Giovanni Dos Santos lost his spot in the upcoming Mexico squad?

The superstar fired back at his national team for its lack of identity and its treatment of Carlos Vela, another top star for El Tri.

"In Mexico, we have had a lot of coaches but we haven't found it. They impose a system of play without caring about the position you play with on your club," he said about the team's lack of stability, according to ESPN. Dos Santos even noted that he was not deployed properly by Mexico. "Here, I play second striker and there right winger. I can't have the same performance."

"Four coaches in one month tells you everything," he added. "We need a playing style and we need to know our roles on the pitch. The team doesn't know how it is supposed to play. Many of these players helped Mexico win gold in London [2012 Olympics]."

Regarding the treatment of Vela, Dos Santos was equally critical.

"People are asking why Vela is not on the team," Dos Santos said. "Here [in Spain], he has prestige and he goes to Mexico for what? So they can trash him? And he is going to play under a system that is very different from Real. And those of us who are in Europe take all the blame."

New coach Miguel Herrera has already announced a squad that he intends to utilize against New Zealand in the upcoming World Cup playoffs. Dos Santos, Vela, and Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez were left off the squad but there have been rumors that Herrera could call up a few European-based players. However, Dos Santos has likely kicked himself off the team for his comments and may miss out on the chance to ever rejoin the Mexican side during the current World Cup cycle.
