The Dallas Cowboys are still looking into the possibility of bringing additional firepower into their backfield, and one of the most-talked about scenario as of late is the trade for Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden.
According to FanSided.com, the Cowboys are reportedly losing faith in starting running back DeMarco Murray, who rushed for 428 yards on 91 carries with three touchdowns so far this season.
Murray has long been speculated to be possible trade bait for the Cowboys, but a trade could happen much sooner as the team struggled to lock up the top spot in the NFC East.
Josh Sanchez of Fansided believed the Cowboys will make their move before the trade deadline to land an efficient running back in McFadden. After all, Dallas really showed interest in drafting the former Arkansas standout, though they didn't have the assets to trade up and get him in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
"The Cowboys had some serious interest in McFadden when he was set to enter the NFL Draft out of Arkansas, but they didn't have the ammunition to trade up and land him early in the first-round. Instead, Dallas settled for McFadden's teammate, Felix Jones, which never worked out," Sanchez stated in his latest article.
Breaking Down The McFadden Trade
There's no doubt the Cowboys are desperately bidding to get a reliable weapon in the backfield. With Tony Romo and Dez Bryant doing the damage in the air, Dallas needs a reliable rusher that would give them another way to cover yardage and score points.
According to Sanchez, the Cowboys need to waive several players to free up space in their salary cap for McFadden. Then again, they have to make it quick or else other contenders loaded with assets can surely provide the Raiders an enticing offer for the running back.
Other Running Back Interest
Aside from McFadden, the Cowboys are reportedly trying to come up with a nice trade package for Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. More so, America's team has also shown interest in the Jacksonville Jaguars' Maurice Jones-Drew, the Arizona Cardinals' Ryan Williams, the New Orleans Saints' Mark Ingram and the Detroit Lions' Mikel Leshoure. NFL teams will be barred from making trades after 4 p.m on Tuesday.
