Target might have caused a big controversy when it cancelled customers' pre-orders for the Play Station 4 if they also pre-ordered the now-delayed Watch Dogs or Driveclub, but it appears the company has seen the error of its ways. Target has announced it will now honor those pre-orders.

As Kotaku notes, Target has released an official apology for the mishap, and will offer affected customers gift cards to make up for the move. Here's Target's apology for the mishap:

"The release date for the video games "Watch Dogs," "Drive Club," "The Order: 1886," and "inFamous: Second Son" (Note: The Order: 1886 and inFamous: Second Son we not delayed, they are launch window titles not launch date titles) has been delayed. As a result, Target cancelled pre-orders for Sony Playstation 4 consoles that were going to be bundled with these titles. We sincerely apologize to guests who were inconvenienced and are working directly with them to ensure they receive the console they selected by their original order date. There was no impact to Sony Playstation 4 pre-orders that were sold independently or bundled with other game titles."

Customers whose pre-orders were cancelled are also getting apology emails, which will also come with $100 gift cards.

Meanwhile, Sony has also revealed more details about the party chat feature on the PlayStation 4. In the comment section of a recent Q&A for Killzone: Shadow Fall, social media manager for Sony, Sid Shuman, revealed how many users can use the service at one time:

"Party Voice Chat will support up to 8 players on PS4, like PS Vita," said Shuman.

This is good news for those looking to communicate with their friends on the PlayStation 4. Users will be able to use the function without having to subscribe to PlayStation Plus. PlayStation Plus is required for online play for most games, but party chat and other online programs such as Netflix will function without a subscription. Some games such as the free-to-play DC Universe Online will have online features without PlayStation Plus, so party chat's ability to support eight players - and the fact that it's free - should be welcome news for gamers on a budget when the $399 console arrives on Nov. 15.
