Nintendo of America are preparing for the holiday season with price cuts and new video games coming to North America.

Nintendo released a statement on Oct. 17 touting the company's entrance into the "critical" holiday season and is going in with "strong momentum.

According to Nintendo, the Nintendo 3DS continued its streak as the best-selling video game system in the United States for the fifth consecutive month.

As Latinos Post reported, and Nintendo reiterated in the Oct. 17 statement, "Pokémon X and Y" sold more than four million combined units during its first weekend on Oct. 12. The sixth-generation Pokémon games' sales accounted for global units sold while U.S. specifics will be revealed in an upcoming Nintendo report.

Sales for the new Nintendo 2DS, which launched on Oct. 12, will also be disclosed with the Nintendo report that will be discussed in November.

Nintendo is banking the Nintendo 3DS success continues with two upcoming Nintendo 3DS games: "The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds" and "Mario Party: Island Tour."

The "strong momentum" continues with the Wii U system.

As of Sept. 20, Nintendo slashed the price of the Wii U Deluxe Set by $50, therefore giving a suggested retail price of $299.99. Nintendo also introduced a limited edition bundle that featured the download code of "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD."

With the price cut, Nintendo noted Wii U hardware sales increased by more than 200 percent in September than in August. Nintendo further touted the sales increase occurred within 15 days since the new price cut.

The Wii U platform is also set to see new games such as "Wii Party U" on Oct. 25, "Wii Fit U" from the Nintendo eShop starting Nov. 1, "Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games" on Nov. 15, and "Super Mario 3D World" on Nov. 22.
