The Nokia Lumia 920 has narrowly beaten the world's most utilized Windows Phone smartphone to become the top Windows Phone device in Canada.

According to AdDuplex's latest figures, the Lumia 920 is the most utilized overall Windows Phone gadget in Canada with 17.5 percent. The Lumia 920 managed to rank first place by 0.5 percent ahead of its nearest challenger - the Lumia 520.

As Latinos Post reported, AdDuplex named the Lumia 520 was the world's most popular Windows Phone device with 23.2 percent, beating the Lumia 920's 9.2 percent.

In Canada, however, the Lumia 520 finished at second place with 17 percent.

The first non-Nokia Lumia device to rank AdDuplex's Canadian Windows Phone top 10 is the Samsung ATIV S, which garnered 13.8 percent and enough for third place.

AdDuplex's figures showed another Nokia Lumia device making an impact in Canada as the Lumia 710 ranked fourth place. The Lumia 710 accounted for 11.4 percent of the Windows Phone market share.

Rounding up the top five is the HTC 8X, which garnered 7.8 percent of the Canadian Windows Phone market share and up 0.7 percent from the HTC 8S.

"I don't think we've covered Canada ever before, so it's time to fix that," wrote AdDuplex's Alan Mendelevich. "Lumia 520 and 920 almost share the top spot and it's pretty clear that the smaller sibling will claim the crown next month. What is interesting to see is that Samsung ATIV S is at number 3 with a solid 14 [percent]. Not a picture we are used to seeing."

AdDuplex collected its data from 1,411 Windows Phone apps utilizing the AdDuplex SDK v.2 on Oct. 11.

The Lumia 920 smartphone has a screen size of 4.5 inches, 32GB of internal storage with 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with 3,264x2,448 pixels with LED flash, Bluetooth 4.0, an NFC chip and a 2,000 mAh battery capacity. 

The Lumia 520's features a 4-inch screen display with 800x480 resolution. The rear-facing camera has 5 megapixels while no secondary camera is present and the Windows Phone 8 smartphone has 8GB for internal storage with 512MB of RAM. The smartphone uses a 1,430mAh battery.
