'Assassin's Creed' Movie News Update: Michael Fassbender Has Never Played the Video Game

Michael Fassbender has admitted that he has never played the video game Assassin's Creed.

During an interview with the Daily Beast the actor said that he had never played the video game but liked the concept. He stated, "I'd heard of it but had never played the game. I don't have a video game player... that's not what they're called."

He continued, "I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting - the idea of reliving memories."

When asked what the project's status was, Fassbender admitted that the script is still being developed. He said, "That's definitely happening. We're just developing the script at the moment."

Fassbender is currently on the road promoting his latest films "12 Years A Slave" and "The Counselor." The actor is later going to New Zealand to shoot the latest adaptation of William Shakspeare's "Macbeth" with Marion Cotillard. Fassbender is best known for his work on "Shame," "X-Men: First Class" and "A Dangerous Method."

The film's plot has not been revealed, but according to rumors it will revolve around a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret organization with ties to the Knights Templar and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts.

The movie will be produced by Mike Leslie and Scott Frank. New Regency will finance "Assassin's Creed" while 20^th Century Fox will distribute it on June 19, 2015.
