Is Sami Khedira following fellow Germany teammate Mesut Ozil out of Real Madrid?

The German midfielder recently told the media that he felt attacked by the Spanish press and was being treated as a scapegoat.

"I feel insulted by the Spanish press, I will never be one of their favorite sons," Khedira said according to The Guardian. "I began the season on the bench and once again I've been made a scapegoat. They don't value me, even when I play well.

"I'm not Spanish, I didn't cost a lot and I'm a disciple of Mourinho."

Ozil was sent to Arsenal earlier this season after a controversial saga with the club. Even after Ozil left for the English Premier League, questions waned over his problems with the club and coaching staff. Ozil is seen as the focal point of the German national team and was a fan favorite at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, the arrival of Isco relegated Ozil to the bench and the purchase of Gareth Bale meant that the team's midfield was going to force top quality players onto the bench.

Now Khedira may be forcing his way out of the team. He is currently seen as a vital defensive midfielder for the club, but rarely provides any offensive punch to the team. The imminent return of Xabi Alonso and the permanence of Luka Modric will likely mean that Khedira's spot in the starting XI may no longer be secure.

Khedira has also been heavily critical of his club's recent performances.

"We aren't playing well. We may have had some good moments, but for large parts of games we have been playing in a complicated way, we have been too individual," he added. "I don't know if it's just a question of time, or something else, but we still haven't found ourselves as a team."
