The internet is still buzzing since Eminem released "Rap God" earlier this week, the newest single off his highly anticipated album "The Marshall Mathers LP 2." Now fans may have a chance to see the hip hop icon perform the track live during his appearance on "Saturday Night Live" next month.
SNL confirmed on Twitter Wednesday that the veteran MC will perform on the late night comedy show on Nov. 2nd, a few days before he drops his eighth album on Nov. 5th. In addition, Hollywood actress and "Scandal" star Kerry Washington will host the episode.
There's also the possibility that Em will appear in a sketch or two like he did when he stopped by the Weekend Update desk for an old-school hip-hop segment.
Nov. 2 will mark Shady's sixth time on the show, reports Rolling Stone. The last time the Detroit native was featured on SNL was in 2010 and he also stopped by during his epic 1999 debut with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
Besides "Rap God," the superstar rapper may perform one of the other two songs that he's previewed from his new album. The first being "Survival" and the other is his 1980's hip hop themed track "Berzerk."
Although "Rap God" has received lots of praise by outlets like Time, which stated that "the world can expect an immortal recording" based on "Rap God" and "Berzerk," other critics say the song falls short of divinity. Critics at Spin say noted that his pop culture references are outdated and some of his punch lines are basic.
"Suggesting that his competition needs maxi-pads is awfully ridiculous-sounding in 2013, as are Ray J references (no one cares), and the line, "How could I not blow? All I drop is F-bombs," writes Spin.
