In Lapeer, Michigan, the fourth largest Powerball jackpot in history has been sold at a gas station for $337 million. The winning numbers were: 6, 27, 46, 51 and 56, with a Powerball of 21. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 175 million.

The yet to be identified winner has the option of taking a tremendous $241 million lump sum.

The August 15th sale ranks as the 7th highest lottery jackpot of all-time.

According to Reuters, 35% of lottery winnings go to state governments, and 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating expenses.

The record for Powerball's largest jackpot is still held by the 2006 sale of a $365 million ticket to eight food plant workers Nebraska. Eric Zornes, David Gehle, Michael Terpstra, Quang Dao, Chastity Rutjens, Alain Maboussou, Dung Tran, and Robert Steward each received $15.5 million post taxes.

The all-time record is still held by a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot won on March 30, 2012. The cash payout for the Mega Millions was $471 million, which also stands as the all-time highest record of cash won.

The numbers that set the Mega Millions lottery record were: 2-4-23-38-46 and a Mega Ball of 23. The winnings were split between three people, located in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland respectively.

According to Fox news, stores that have previously sold winning tickets saw a rise in lottery sales. These "lucky stores" have become targets for ambitious ticket buyers.

The current estimated Powerball jackpot is $40 million, with a $26.7 Million Cash Value.
