Victor Valdes continues to confirm that he will leave his current club Barcelona.
The keeper has won everything with the Catalan club and has repeatedly noted that he will leave the team when his current contract expires next summer. He recently admitted that France may be on his horizon.
"Yes, I would like that, or even to play elsewhere in France, as Ligue 1 really appeals to me. That club is one of the potential options for me, so why not?" he said, according to ESPN.
He even noted that AS Monaco may be of particular interest to him. "Yes, but this is something my agents deal with. But certainly Monaco is a good option."
Eric Abidal, who used to play with Valdes at Barcelona, now plays for Monaco and Valdes noted that this alone could persuade him to join the club.
"He is very happy there and I am very fond of Abidal. I consider him a brother," said Valdes. "He is a great example as a human being. To play by his side is very special."
Barcelona has been keen to keep the netminder at the Camp Nou but Valdes stated that he was in need of a new adventure.
"I have a contract until the end of the season with Barcelona," Valdes said. "I spent over 20 years with the club. I have had the opportunity to win everything, so the adventure will come to an end when the season finishes. But I always want to win everything, and to set myself new goals."
Valdes was recently promoted to the starting netminder for the Spanish national team after his terrific start to the 2013-14 season for Barcelona.
