Philadelphia police have identified the suspect wanted in the vicious assault of a 33-year-old blind man in Germantown.
Mustafa Guyton, 29, lives near the crime scene, which was in the area of Seymour Street and Wayne Avenue where the attack took place earlier this month.
Officials say a surveillance camera on a Germantown street corner captured video of the aggravated assault on the blind man, as well as at least three people who witnessed it but didn't attempt to intervene, reports the AP.
In the video, which police released hoping that it will lead to an arrest, the blind man is seen walking down the street just after noon on Oct. 2. As he walked toward the corner, he was approached by another man who struck him and knocked him to the ground. Detectives say the suspect proceeded to kick and stomp the victim, injuring his face and head "as he lay helpless on the ground," reports 6 ABC.
In a news release issued Tuesday, police said the blind man is a 33-year-old who was walking on Seymour Street toward Wayne Avenue.
The suspect knocks the victim to the ground then kicks and stomps him, injuring his face and head. As the camera continues to roll, the suspect is seen slowly walking away after putting a purple backpack over his shoulder.
Police did not indicate any possible motive for the attack.
Police say Guyton was wearing a tan baseball cap, tan shirt, khaki pants and a dark-colored backpack.
