A key personality in Manny Pacquiao's camp is confident about the chances of the Filipino brawler against Floyd Mayweather Jr., believing the former eight division world champion is the only boxer today capable of counter-punching the current pound-for-pound king.

Michael Koncz, a long time adviser for the fighting congressman, did not hesitate to say that Pacquiao is the only fighter that can beat Mayweather Jr, if ever the two elite fighters go head-to-head inside the ring.

In an interview with World Boxing News, Koncz said he saw how dominant Mayweather Jr was against Saul Canelo Alvarez in their lopsided 12-round battle Sept. 14. Yet, he was also sure that Mayweather would have had a hard time in the ring, if his opponent was Pacquiao.

"It was plain to see that Mayweather gave a boxing lesson to Canelo and it was a great performance, but I believe that Manny is the only fighter at the present time that can cope with and counter Floyd's form," Koncz told World Boxing News.

When asked if Pacquiao is ready to rumble with Mayweather Jr. next year, Koncz said the only roadblock for the mega fight to happen is the Grand Rapids' native, not his fighter.

"Obviously I think any question of whether the fight can happen next year is better posed to Floyd himself, as Manny has said many times that he is more than willing to face Floyd," said Koncz.

With regards to Pacquiao's upcoming showdown with Brandon Rios on Nov. 24 at Venetian Macao in Macau, China, Koncz is very much sure that the Pacman would finish the job against one of the hardest hitters in boxing.

Koncz promised Pacquiao's followers and boxing fans that it would be an exciting match-up between the Filipino and the Californian kid with Mexican heritage. However, Koncz said Pacquiao's speed, power and experience in the ring would be too much for Rios to handle.

"Manny is concentrating on Brandon Rios right now and fans can expect to see a very exciting action because of Rios' straightforward style," said Koncz.
