Patrick Roy's Colorado Avalanche will face their toughest task yet when they take on the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.
After finishing the 2012-13 season as the worst team in the Western Conference, Colorado is off to a 3-0-0 start after taking down the Toronto Maples 2-1 on Tuesday.
"Everybody is chipping in," Avalanche coach Patrick Roy said of why his team is playing so well, according Colorado's official webiste. "Last game it was [defenseman Patrick] Bordeleau who had a winning goal. Tonight we had [Cory] Sarich tie it, and it was a great effort by Parenteau driving it in on that second goal."
He also noted that his goaltender Seymon Varlamov has been solid in the early going.
"Right now what I like about [Varlamov's] play is it looks simple," Roy said. "Every time you look at him, it looks easy. He's always square to the shooters, and he's at the right place. He plays a simple game, and I think that's the reason why he's had so much success.
Colorado will take on an undefeated Boston side that has won both of its games this season with authoritative presence. Boston took down Tampa Bay 3-1 in its home opener before destroying the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 in its second game. Milan Lucic leads the team in scoring with one goal and two assists.
Prediction: Boston gives Colorado a harsh lesson with a 4-1 victory at home.
