The Toronto Maple Leafs will look to continue their solid start when they take on the Nashville Predators on Thursday.

Toronto is coming off its first loss of season on Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche. The team defeated Montreal 4-3 in the opener before taking down Philadelphia 3-1 in its second game. Its home opener was a 5-4 shootout win over Ottawa on Saturday. However, the team simply could not resolve Colorado netminder Semyon Varlamov on Tuesday.

"We gave up too many chances," Toronto captain Dion Phaneuf said, according to NHL.com. "[Bernier] kept us in it. It was right there for us."

Nashville is coming off its first win of the season against the Minnesota Wild; rookie Filip Forsberg scored his first goal of his NHL career just 5:07 into the first goal on the powerplay. The rookie was selected by the Washington Capitals in 2012 but was sent to Nashville in a trade for Martin Erat.

"Any player [who] gets to the National Hockey League, they dream of scoring their first goal, and when they do, it is a time to celebrate," Predators Coach Barry Trotz said, according to the team's official website. "I think you saw real good emotion from Filip. I know our bench was loving it. They love our two young guys. I think they have success, our team enjoys their having success."

Nashville previously lost games against the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche.

Prediction: Toronto looks excellent offensively and will outplay Nashville; 3-2 Toronto.

Start Time: 8 p.m. EST
