ABC's "Agents of SHIELD" is one of the biggest shows on Tuesday night's primetime slate. Actor Brett Dalton, who plays agent Ward, recently spoke about his character in an interview with Buzzfeed.

Ward is the enforcer of sort for the team. He is the foot soldier brought in to protect his partners. However, through three episodes he has shown himself to be reserved and mysterious. Ward revealed that the mystery behind Ward would slowly be revealed.

"There are a couple of episodes that emphasize one character maybe a little more than others, and there's one coming up that emphasizes Ward," Dalton said during an interview with Buzzfeed. "You get to know a little bit more about his past."

Regarding the character's demeanor, he noted that Ward is a product of his environment and his withdrawn nature has a cause.

"He's not the way he is for nothing," Dalton said. "He is that straight laced and buttoned up because his life has led him to that point."

The actor also told Buzzfeed that there could be some romance brewing in future episodes.

"You do have an attractive cast, trapped in an airplane sleeping next to each other. I think that there will be certain missions that bring people closer together," Dalton revealed. "And I think you may see certain relationships that are already planted - you may see them watered in the future."

The first episode of the series featured an intense scene between Skye (Chloe Bennett) and Agent Ward. Ward was aggressive during an interrogation scene while Skye attempted to seduce him with her charms. The two characters seem to be the most likely to hook-up; Melinda May is an older agent while Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons seem more interested in their technology to have time for romance. That leaves Ward and Skye as the new team members with a big shot at getting together.

Dalton did note that the romance would likely be subdued and would not take over the story. "I don't think we're gonna beat anyone over the head with it," he said. "It's not a soap opera."
