A 16-year-old teenager killed his adoptive mother and confessed to the crime to his friends through popular instant messaging application Whatsapp, Spanish authorities reported on Monday.

According to information published by El País, Spanish National Police detained a minor on the early morning of Sunday accused of stabbing his 50-year-old adoptive mother to death and then telling his Whatsapp contacts about it.

"Goodbye everyone, you'll see me in the news. I've killed my mother. Goodbye to this life", was the message the 16-year-old wrote in the app moments after killing the 50-years-old woman, which shocked his contacts, who thought it was a prank, La Razón informed on its website.

According to the forensic reports quoted by the same source, the teenager, of Indian descent, was adopted by a Spanish marriage and argued with his mother on Sunday night over the separation process she kept with his father.

The fight led the alleged murderer to beat his mother until he left her unconscious and then he grabbed a knife from the kitchen and returned to stab her multiple times in the heart.

According to El País, the minor's arrest took place at the scene of the crime, after police received an alert of an alleged murder in a home in Sainz de Varanda avenue, in the Aragonese capital.

The incident is similar to one that took place in the U.S., on August 8, when Derek Medina, a resident of South Miami, uploaded a picture of his wife's lifeless body on Facebook after shooting her six times, reported then Univisión.
