The former member of Mexican band Rebelde, Christian Chávez, shared last Saturday, October 5, through his Twitter account @christiancha, images of an alleged suicide by cutting his veins.
Mexican magazine TVNotas points out that the controversy spread among the singer's followers since the images weren't verified to be real or not. Along with the many images the 30-year-old singer published the following message/caption was added: I just want to tell people with double standards... no more.
The magazine shares that the singer's fans showed their indignation regarding the "prank" and one of his fan clubs published "I hope you think a little about what you just did! Don't be so selfish... At least in my opinion that's not the Christian I'm a fan of". While one of the former RBD's friends, Alejandra de la Reguera, told fans that he was okay and it had all been a joke.
According to Terra's report, hashtags #StayStrongChris and #ChristianChavezTeAmamos were among the trending topics in the social network; however, after his followers' reactions, Christian himself deleted the controversial pictures from his personal account.
The news website points out that the former RBD had a similar problem on social networks before, detailing that last May he became the focus of criticism after being arrested for having a domestic issue with his ex, Benjamin Stewart-Kruger, regarding a picture uploaded on Twitter of the singer dressed as a woman. This had angered Christian because of the potential damage it would bring to his career.
Benjamin Stewart-Kruger filed a lawsuit for attempted murder against his ex and even got a restraining order against Chávez, and the legal issue was resolved in a Los Angeles court last June.
