With the 2012 London Summer Olympics done, many winning Olympians are making sporadic television appearances, including Michael Phelps who will test his golfing skills with Tiger Woods' former coach, Hank Haney.

Phelps has been known to enjoy a good game of golf with appear on the fifth season of Golf Channel's The Haney Project in February 2013.

The Haney Project, hosted by Hank Haney, features celebrities and athletes from other sports trying to better their skills in golf.

A notable moment in the series was when Haney featured NBA star and fellow gold medal Olympian Charles Barkley. The basketball icon is infamous for his bad golf swings leading Haney to say Barkley's swing "looked worse than Helen Keller trying to read."

Phelps will probably have an easier time at the sport than Barkley did. Phelps has previously practiced his golf skills with Haney during a trip to China. Phelps is shown to struggle during this visit but Haney seemed confident in his performance.

"Michael's very determined, and there's no doubt he can do something athletic," said Haney during the China visit.

"I have traveled the world through swimming, but really haven't had an opportunity to experience the world through my travels," said Phelps in a statement. "As I enter this next chapter of my life, I think I will be able to shift my competitiveness to anything I put my mind to and golf is one of the things I want to focus on."

Phelps added, "If I have a goal of dropping a certain amount of shots, or working on my short game or putting, those things are going to keep me motivated and fire me up and keep me excited. I want to play all the world's great golf courses, but I'd like to play them well. I'm excited about this project with Golf Channel and I'm looking forward to working with Hank and see what we can do together on the golf course."

Production of the show starts next month. According to a statement from Golf Channel, the season will feature Phelps' friends, swim coach Bob Bowman, and his mother Debbie.

Other media personalities Haney featured on his show include radio talkshow host Rush Limbaugh, singer Adam Levine, and actor Ray Romano.
