With the amazing Olympic thrashing that the USA basketball team gave to the world (8-0), we see that the team was altogether well assembled and composing of some of the best athletes in the world.

USA Stats at the Olympics

With an overall total of 87852 live fans and hundreds of millions, if not billions of fans, watching from the comfort of their televisions, computers, and mobile devices, the United States scored a total of 924 points during the Olymnpics, scoring 257 more points than all their competitors, whose total was a meager 667.

With an average of 32.1 plus points per game, we can say that the victory was no fluke, especially considering 200 assists versus 142 for the opponents, a +9.1 rebounding margin, and the field goal percentage being at .523 to a low .454.

Player Stats

Scoring more points during the second half, it shows that the coaching staff, led by Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski (Duke University), was built for motivation. And while Kevin Durant saw the most playing time at 208 minutes, spending only 112 minutes on the bench, he had only put in 26 more points than Carmelo Anthony, who played only 142 minutes, not even half a game on average.

Kobe Bryant was the dominating force in free throws at an amazing .909 percentage, and Kevin Durant scored an amazing .523 at the three point line, considerably high, as the player average across the world is only about .350.

Chris Paul had 20 steals, and while Tyson Chandler only played 90 minutes, he had 4 blocks, second only to Kevin Durant's five.  Also on the team was LeBron James, Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Deron Williams, Andre Iguodala, and Anthony Davis (New Orleans Hornets).

Overall, the United States showed the world that basketball is an American sport but important to consider is the fact that Spain showed the world that they can play at NBA levels too.
