It looks like it may take slightly longer than expected before the public will get to see Google's Nexus 5 smartphone. A new report states that the phone will be shown off at the end of October and will pack specs similar to the iPhone 5S.

The report comes from TechRadar, which cites an unnamed "source familiar with Google." According to the source, Google will reveal the Nexus 5 during the last week of October. The device should then ship out before October ends.

While similar, the TechRadar report's timeframe is slightly delayed compared to previous rumors, which indicated the Nexus 5 announcement would come mid-October. It's important to note that neither one of these dates has been confirmed by Google, nor has the existence of the Nexus 5. Still, expect a new a Nexus handset to rear its head in October, as Google will definitely want to capitalize on the busy holiday shopping season. Google is also expected to unveil Android 4.4 KitKat soon, and the company usually shows off a new Android alongside a new device.

The report also says that the Nexus 5 will apparently sport specs akin to the iPhone 5S at half the price (for unlocked models). But as TechRadar notes, there are no further specifics on what that could mean.

"...what does 'match the iPhone 5S' mean exactly? Will it ape certain features like the controversial fingerprint identity sensor? Or be available as a 64GB version unlike the Nexus 4? It's not clear but higher on-board storage would be preferable since the recently leaked photos appear to show no external memory slot."

Other rumored Nexus 5 specs have the device equipped with a 4.97-inch 1080p Full HD display and a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The Nexus 5 could also sport an impressive MEMS camera.
