Two Pokémon evolutions have been confirmed as "Pokémon X and Y" are set to launch worldwide on Oct. 12.

Fittingly, the new evolutions are for Pokémon with the latest Energy type - Fairy.

The first Fairy-type Pokémon from the sixth generation to have an evolution confirmed is Swirlix, the Cotton Candy Pokémon. Swirlix evolves into the Meringue Pokémon known as Slurpuff. The Swirlix evolution maintains the Ability Sweet Veil, which keeps its teammates from falling asleep.

The second Fairy-type Pokémon to have an evolution confirmed is Spritzee, the Perfume Pokémon. Spritzee evolves into the Fragrance Pokémon known as Aromatisse. Similar to Spritzee, Aromatisse keeps the Ability Healer. Aromatisse, as does Spritzee, emits unique fragrances that can either please or offend opponents.

Swirlix will be exclusive to "Pokémon X," and Spritzee's available only in "Pokémon Y."

The latest evolutions come after the confirmation Charizard has a second Mega Evolution known as Mega Charizard X. As Latinos Post reported, Mega Charizard X drops its Flying-type status and adds Dragon type while maintaining its original Fire-type status.

Mega Charizard X has its Attack stats increased and the Ability Tough Claws, which raises the power of direct contact moves. Tough Claws will be important, as Mega Charizard X is able to utilize the move Dragon Tail, a physical move that can force the opposing Pokémon to switch out during the battle.

"Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" will be released in North America, Europe, Japan and Australia on Oct. 12 for the Nintendo 3DS and the recently announced Nintendo 2DS. The games have a suggested retail price of $39.99, each.

As a reminder, the games' release date coincides with the Torchic distribution event. Torchic will be available, for free, holding the item "Blazikenite," which will transform Torchic's last evolution, Blaziken, into "Mega Blaziken." The Fire-type Hoenn-region starter will be available for gamers worldwide until Jan. 15, 2014.
