A man from Boston claimed that then-New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was the one who shot two of his friends in July 2012, Fox News reported. The witness, who wishes to remain anonymous, survived the shooting and has now identified Hernández as the man who pulled the trigger.

According to Fox News, the man made the claim during an interview with WFXT television in Boston. He said Hernández shot two of his friends, Danny Abreu and Safiro Furtado, after the NFL star was arrested in June for the murder of Odin Lloyd.

The witness said the shooting took place shortly after 2 a.m., the time when Cure Lounge, the nightclub in Boston where they'd spent most of the night, closed its doors, Fox News informed. According to the man sayings, he and his friends were waiting at a red light when a SUV pulled up alongside them and a voice shouted "What's up, Negroes?" before the shooting began, killing the driver of the car, Abreu, and passenger, Furtado.

"Things happened so fast. I was trying to defend myself," the witness told WFXT television. "They were shooting everywhere inside the car, front to back. They just came to kill. That's it."

"When I see (Hernandez's) face, I just recognize his face. Compare his face that night to his face now. It's that face that I remember," he added.

After the shooting, the SUV sped away and police were not able to find any further information on the driver or owner of the car until they found a vehicle matching the same description at the Bristol, Conn., home of Hernández's uncle in June, NESN.com reported. The former NFL player reportedly had rented the car.

Authorities believed Hernández was at the same nightclub as the victims of the shooting, and according to MyFoxBoston.com, there is surveillance footage that shows him in the same area as the victims.

Also, a gun believed to be used in the shooting was found in June this year in the trunk of a car driven by Jailene Díaz Ramos that crashed, Fox News published. Díaz Ramos is also from Bristol, Hernández' hometown.
