Simon Kinberg will write the reboot to "Fantastic Four."
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Kinberg will also produce the film along with Matthew Vaughn ("X-Men: First Class"). Sources say that Kinberg will do an overhaul of the original script. Fox has been working on the reboot for months and has already gone through four writers including Jeremy Slater, Michael Green, Seth Grahame-Smith and T.S Nowlin.
The film has been casting for a number of months with many news sources rumoring that Miles Teller ("The Spectacular Now") and Michael B. Jordan ("Fruitvale Station") will star in the upcoming reboot.
Kinberg has previously worked on Marvel-branded films. He worked on "X-Men: The Last Stand," and produced "X-Men: First Class." He is currently working with Vaughn as co-writer and producer of "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Kinberg has also written "Jumper," "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," "Sherlock Holmes" and "The Legacy."
In 2005, the "Fantastic Four" was released and grossed $154 million domestically. However, it received negative reviews. The second installment, 2007's "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," received better reviews, but bombed at the box office making $131 million domestically. With the failure of the second installment Fox scrapped all scripts and ideas for a third installment.
The franchise was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961.
"Fantastic Four" will start filming in Louisiana in 2014 with Josh Trank slated to direct. Fox will release the reboot on March 6, 2015
