The fourth season of CBS cop series "Blue Bloods" premiered last night, showcasing a new season of Reagan family drama. On the season premiere, Jamie (Will Estes) met his new partner, Eddie, who is played by Vanessa Ray of "Pretty Little Liars."

"You're my first, Reagan," she told him, jokingly. "Be gentle."

Yet, the two didn't exactly hit it off at first; Jamie was annoyed that he was given a rookie. Yet, when they got an alert that shots were fired, she wasted no time jumping into the car and rushing to the scene of the crime. Once they reached the scene, they were briefed on a jewelry store robbery, and Jamie found a female police officer shot.

They rushed her to the hospital, but alas, the officer did not survive. As Frank (Tomm Selleck) was on his way to see the officer's survivors, he told the police team, "We're going to get this son of a b****."

At the scene of the shooting, Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) learned that the paroled convict Angelo (Malcolm Goodwin) was seen running from the scene. After learning that Angelo was seen at Grand Central Station, Danny and his partner, Maria (Marisa Ramirez) chased him down and eventually caught him to bring back to the station.

Yet, an elderly witness who saw the shooting was not completely sure that Angelo was the shooter. Erin (Bridget Moynahan) pointed out that the circumstantial evidence is not enough.

"This guy's a cop-killer, and you're worried about your batting average?" Danny said in response. "Give me something I can use, and I will charge" the suspect, she replied. "Until then, he is free to go."

Frank was not pleased upon hearing that Erin was the one who let Angelo go.

Danny and Maria found a second suspect by tracking down his heroin supplier, and it turned out that the suspect had some of the stolen jewelry. The suspect ran, and as the police caught up to him and cornered him, he began to reach for his gun, saying, "I'm not dying in jail." An officer then shot him multiple times.

A great deal of Reagan family tension-- including anger directed at Erin--ensued after the slain officer's funeral.

Later on, Erin said to Danny, "Neither of us did our best work here." He agreed, and she asked for his help in nabbing the cop-killer.

Erin and Danny played good cop, bad cop with Angelo, and was about to strike a deal with him until Danny mentioned that his accomplice never gave him up. Angelo then said, "Then you've got no case," and rejected the deal, meaning he would be charged for first-degree murder.

Erin then said, while holding his written confession, "Please book him on a charge of Murder One."

Erin told Angelo, "You are going to die in prison."

As for what's in store for the rest of the season, "Frasier" star and Broadway veteran Bebe Neuwirth will be on the series for a three-episode arc. She is scheduled to appear on the procedural drama in October.

Neuwirth is slated to play Kelly Peterson, the new Inspector General of Frank's (Tom Selleck) department who is beautiful, fashionable and endearing. Although Kelly and Frank will butt heads, it will be clear that they weren't always at odds. It will be revealed that the characters met years ago, and back then, "sparks definitely flew." This sets up a potential love/hate relationship that is sure to keep viewers engaged.

Neuwirth has most recently appeared on another CBS hit, "The Good Wife."

Neuwirth will be guest starring alongside Marisa Ramirez as well as Selleck, who was upped to a series regular for the upcoming season. Ramirez is also known for her roles in "Spartacus: God of the Arena" and short-lived Fox shows "Mental" and "Miracles."

TVLine reports that Ramirez stepped in as a replacement for Jennifer Esposito, who exited the show last October due to controversy over her inability to act on the show while managing Celiac Disease. Megan Boone of "Law and Order: LA" and newcomer Megan Ketch also temporarily joined the show last season to fill Jennifer's place.

In addition to Neuwirth, Marc Blucas of "Necessary Roughness" will have a guest appearance as a movie star who goes on a ride along with Danny to do research for an upcoming role.

"Blue Bloods" airs on Fridays at 10 p.m. on CBS.
