Singer Christina Aguilera opened up during an interview with NBC Latino about returning to the public eye after a brief personal hiatus, her role as a coach in NBC's "The Voice," her new slimmed down figure and how she felt about being replaced by Shakira during Season 4 of the show.

"I don't do anything for public opinion, and never have," the 32-year-old artist told NBC Latino's Nina Terrero via email. "I do things, make music and align myself with projects that make me feel good."

Back in July, Aguilera showed off her amazing new body by donning a tiny pink dress on the red carpet of the NBC press event for the upcoming season of "The Voice," where she is set to return as one of the coaches in the competition.

The singer has reportedly lost over 15 pounds in the last couple of months, thanks to a strict workout regime and a very healthy diet. She has also taken a few months off from work and has reportedly used the time to focus on herself and improving her body.

"The only motivation I ever have is to be honest and true to myself," revealed the "Ain't No Other Man" singer about her brand new look.

Aguilera confessed she has "no strategy whatsoever" in order to beat "The Voice" co-stars Adam Levine, Cee-Lo and Blake Shelton.  "This isn't about me or about us coaches winning," she said. "The contestants in the end are the winners and I just play with my heart," she added.

"The main reason that I joined in the first place is because in my heart I genuinely believe in the concept of the show and what it stands for," explained the singer. "We aren't here to make fun of anyone, to set anyone up to feel bad for the sake of entertainment. The show is about mentoring, passing along what stars like myself have learned along the way and in the process hopefully make someone a better artist," she continued.

"For me it's someone who can make a living doing what they love," Aguilera told NBC Latino about finding the next big thing. "Create music, put out records people want to hear. And by that definition we definitely have with the likes of Chris Mann, Cassadee Pope and Juliet Simms, to name a few," she added.

"The talent each season just seems to get better and better and I think that's why people continue to tune in," she remarked.

The singer also said what she missed most about the show were "the boys for sure."  "We are like an extended family and when CeeLo and I returned, it was like we picked up right where we left off," said Aguilera, who during Season 4 was replaced by Colombian singer Shakira.

"There is nothing better than a talented and strong minded Latina!!!," said Aguilera, confessing she felt "more similar than different" to Shakira. "Go girls go!," she added.
