Former "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria will return to ABC, this time as a producer. The 38-year-old actress acquired the rights to Colombian telenovela "Pura Sangre," which in its English version will be called "Trust," Deadline reported. The hour-long series will be produced by Longoria's UnbeliEVAble Entertainment, Berman/Braun and Universal TV.
According to Latin Times, the soap opera follows the story of David Montenegro, a humble attorney in Miami who is given the opportunity of his life when he becomes the Trustee of the Lagos estate. David's intention is to be close to the family and especially to his first love, Roselia Lagos, who is now engaged to another man. It won't be long until David finds himself trapped in the Lagos' family world of lies.
Longoria is making herself a name as an executive producer. This year she co-produced Lifetime series "Devious Maids" with Marc Cherry and others, based on the Mexican telenovela "Ellas Son La Alegría del Hogar" ("They are the Joy of Home").
According to TVLine, "Devious Maids" consists of four Latina housekeepers who work for the rich and famous of Beverly Hills while harboring dreams and ambitions of their own. The show, starring Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem, Judy Reyes and Susan Lucci, received very bad reviews from some critics, who mainly accuse it of stereotyping Latinas.
Back in August, the New York Post reported Longoria will be the executive producer of an NBC comedy series based on the real-life sex and experiences of relationship therapist Laura Berman.
Yet to be titled, the sitcom will follow the therapist and her patients who are dealing with unusual fetishes, intimacy and love, Voxxi.com reported. The series will also navigate the therapist's relationships with her ex husband, his new girlfriend and her own mother, while she takes care of her two young sons.
According to the NY Post, jokes will arise from the patients' doubts on a variety of intimate matters and how they consult a female sex therapist to help define their problems.
Laura Berman, who has a show on OWN called "In the Bedroom with Dr. Laura Berman" and is a regular guest on "The Dr. Oz Show," will be a consulting producer. Voxxi reported Universal TV and Longoria's own UnbeliEVAble Entartainment production company will be producing the comedy series. The multi-camera sitcom will be written by Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont ("Made of Honor").
