The Netflix Watch Instantly model is changing the way we watch television. It's genius really. Why would people want to wait, week after week, to watch their favorite show in a specific allotted time slot that may not even cater to their schedule? With the Netflix platform, they can watch as they please. If they want to space it out in order to maintain the suspense, they can. If they want to watch the entire season in one binge sitting, they can. Arguably the network's breakthrough series is now gearing up for its return, preparing fans for yet another riveting season of the politically charged drama, "House of Cards."

Just last Sunday, Netflix won its first Emmy when director David Fincher took home the award for Best Director of a Drama Series, beating out directors from “Boardwalk Empire,” “Breaking Bad,” “Downton Abbey” and “Homeland.” It’s official. “House of Cards” has entered the ranks of television’s greatest, and it shows no signs of giving up anytime soon.

Season 2 is right around the corner. Although Netflix has yet to announce its official debut, creator and executive producer Beau Willimon’s schedule is now filling up with other work, indicating that production on “House of Cards” Season 2 is close to finished.

In addition, production moved from Baltimore to rural Maryland in August, suggesting that the various city and indoor scenes had been completed. The rural setting will serve as a stage for Frank Underwood’s Carolina home. It’s not much to ride on, but by reading the signs, it seems as though Netflix is on track for its promised early 2014 release date. If that’s the case, fans should at least suspect a confirmed date within the coming months. Stay tuned.
