President Barack Obama is set to speak at the United Nations' (U.N.) General Assembly Hall, and will likely make another case about how to handle Syria.

The U.N. commences its General Debate week on Sept. 24 to Oct. 1, where leaders from the organization's 193 Member States will speak on global issues and policy. For Pres. Obama, he

According to U.S. News, Obama will have bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Lebanon, Nigeria, the Palestinian Authority, and U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

"[Pres. Obama] will reinforce the need for the international community to stand strongly against the use of chemical weapons and continue to argue for a clear diplomatic process to put [Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad's] chemical weapons under international control and ultimately destroy them," White House Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes.

The deputy national security adviser added that the president will discuss the challenges and opportunities in the Middle East and Northern Africa region while pressing on the negotiations between Israel and Palestine.

As Los Angeles Times reporter Christ Parsons wrote, one of the key moments to look for his Obama's interaction with new Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, who is considered to be a more moderate leader than Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

"If the two leaders do meet - and that isn't a given - the likely scenario is an informal exchange of pleasantries or, simply, a handshake," Parsons reported. "National security officials are wary of a welcome that is too enthusiastic, before the new Iranian leader has a chance to demonstrate his commitment to dismantling the nuclear program."

Rhodes, however, clarified about a potential meeting between Obama and Rouhani.

"The fact of the matter is we don't have a meeting scheduled with President Rouhani, but we're always open to diplomacy if we believe it can advance our objectives, and in this instance our objective is an Iran that meets its international obligations," Rhodes noted.

The ethics of the National Security Agency (NSA) could be a topic to address for Obama, as the surveillance program has reportedly brought ire from many world leaders such as Brazilian Pres. Dilma Rousseff. As Latinos Post reported, Rousseff reportedly canceled a U.S. trip over allegations the NSA spied on her country's communication's activities.

Pres. Obama is scheduled to speak second during the first morning session after Rousseff at the 9 a.m. EST hour.
