Downloading Apple's iOS 7 may be a test of patience for some iPhone owners, but will it be worth it in the end?

Apple's latest mobile operating system launched worldwide on Sept. 18 and as expected, the download time took its toll.

It has been a busy Apple-related 2013 as I purchased my first iPhone in April with the now-discontinued iPhone 5. Unfortunately the iPhone 5, with the iOS 6 platform, decided to get lost in downtown Manhattan on Sept. 12. The next day, needing a phone as soon as possible, I had to manage with the iPhone 4s.

A week later, iOS 7 launched, and it was the first time downloading a new Apple mobile platform.

The update was available on the iPhone 4s by 1 p.m. EST.

The 728MB iOS 7.0 update was ready to install following agreeing with the mandatory Terms and Conditions.

However, the estimated time to finish the download was projected to be 20 hours. The estimated time dropped to five hours then two hours after 15 minutes.

The update stopped following an download error message.

As Latinos Post reported, a message appeared on iPhone devices stated "Software Update Unavailable" when attempting to install iOS 7.

"Software Update is not available at this time. Try again later," read the message for many iPhone owners.

I did try again, multiple times but to no avail.

Understandably, millions of Apple devices were attempting to download iOS 7 during the same time frame. I decided to wait a couple hours in hopes to avoid "rush hour."

The patience succeeded as the iOS 7 installation commenced again. The download time took approximately one hour.

By 5:12 p.m. and selecting the language of preference, I was greeted with a white screen and the phrase "Update Completed."

"Your iPhone was updated successfully. There are just a few more steps to follow, and then your done!" read the introduction to iOS 7 before tapping "Continue" for the next step.

The new mobile operating system features a brand new design in every app and aspect in the Apple device. The Cupertino-organization updated Control Center, Notification Center, AirDrop, Find My iPhone, Multitasking, Photos, Safari, Siri, and more.

The iOS 7 update also introduces iTunes Radio in the Music app while a male voice has been added for Siri.

The designs on iOS 7 are definitely "flat" as it has been reported by numerous sources throughout 2013.

It will take a few moments or a day to familiarize with the graphics on the new mobile operating system as it is different than what iOS 6 offered.

Overall, future iOS 7 downloaders should be patient and backup their device on iCloud before the installing process. It will also help to have the device charging during the process.

As Latinos Post reported, iOS 7 will be available for the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, and the fifth-generation iPod touch. The iOS 7 will automatically come installed in the new iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s when the smartphones launch on Sept. 20 across Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, United Kingdom, and United States.
