It might be the season of colorful smartphones as Apple is set to debut a new iPhone with an additional color option.

Apple has revealed the iPhone 5s on Sept. 10, and the smartphone is set to debut in stores and the Cupertino-based organization's official website on Sept. 20.

With Apple offering three color options, how will the iPhone fare against Nokia's most-utilized global smartphone, the Lumia 520.

When it comes to the display, the Apple smartphone has the better specifications with a 4-inch Retina Display screen with 1,136x640 pixels. The Lumia 520 has a 4-inch screen as well but with 800x480 pixels.

The iPhone 5s might offer the better memory options as it offers 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models although it doesn't have a microSD card slot. The Lumia 520 is only available at 8GB, it does have a microSD card slot for an additional 64GB of storage.

The wireless connectivity for the Lumia 520 and iPhone 5s are similar with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, and microUSB.

The camera specifications on the iPhone 5s are also improved than the Lumia 520. The iPhone 5s has a rear-facing camera with 8 megapixels and 3,264x2,448 pixels. The Lumia 520 has a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with 2,592x1,936 pixels.

While the Lumia 520 does not sport a front-facing camera, the iPhone 5s has a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. In regards to video recording, the Lumia 520 can record at 720p at 30 frames per second (fps) while the iPhone 5s can at 1080p at the same fps.

The iPhone 5s has the new iOS 7 mobile operating system, and the Lumia 520 is equipped with Microsoft's Windows Phone 8, however, it can be receive the Amber Update.

The iPhone 5s has a battery capacity of 1,570mAh, which offers up to 250 hours on standby and 10 hours for talk time when on a 3G network. The Lumia 520's battery capacity stands at 1,430mAh for 360 hours and 9.4 hours for talk time under a 3G network.

The Lumia 520 is available under AT&T while the iPhone 5s, upon its Sept. 20 release date, will be on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless.

The Lumia 520 is offered in five color models with black, cyan, red, white, and yellow. The iPhone 5s has the traditional black, "space gray," and the new gold model.
