Tiger Woods reclaimed the No.1 spot on the 2013 FedEx Cup Standings despite suffering another late round collapse on Monday at the BMW Championship in Lake Forest, Ill.

Woods, who was just five strokes behind the leader entering the final round of the BMW Championship, only came up with a 71 after the final 18 holes at Conway Farm Golf Club. The world's most popular golfer continued his struggle in the fourth round of a PGA Tour tournament after fizzling out at the Barclays and Deutsche Bank Championship.

Zach Johnson walked away the winner of the BMW tournament.

"I thought I needed to shoot at least 3-, 4-under par on the front nine and at least give myself a chance going into the back nine, where if I put a good back nine together I might be in there, but I wasn't anywhere near it," Woods told reporters via ESPN.

Nevertheless, Woods' performance was enough for him to take a small lead heading into the Tour Championship, which will be held at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga. Woods is being trailed by Henrik Stenson, Adam Scott, Johnson and Matt Kuchar, who all have a chance to win the FedEx Cup outright if they win the next tournament.

Making big jumps on the FedEx Cup Standings were Nick Watney, Charl Schwartzel, and BMW Championship winner Johnson.

"Top five, you control your own destiny," Woods told the press right after the final round via ESPN. "You win the tournament, you win it outright."

Woods has already won five tournaments this year, but none of those trophies is a Grand Slam. Still, a victory in Atlanta would cap another impressive year of golfing for the 14-time majors champion. Woods has already won the FedEx Cup twice since its inaugural event in 2006.

Meanwhile, several big names in golf surprisingly failed to advance into the final phase of the FedEx Cup. Two-time Grand Slam champion Rory McIlroy missed the trip to Atlanta while former Masters champion Bubba Watson and former world's No.1 Lee Westwood also missed the cut after a lackluster showing at the BMW Championship.
