The Prime Time Players won the Tag-Team Turmoil challenge - which featured The Prime Time Players vs. Tons of Funk vs. The Usos vs. 3MB vs. The Real Americans - in an gauntlet-like match featured on the Night of Champions Kickoff Show. Darren Young nailed Jack Swagger of The Real Americans with a Gut Check for the pin, earning a title shot at The Shield's tag-team titles later in the night.
Curtis Axel successfully defended his Intercontinental title against Kofi Kingston after Paul Heyman came out to the ring begging WWE COO Triple H be taken out of his Elimination Handicap Tag Team match against CM Punk. Axel accused Triple H of being angry and jealous of the fact he previously defeated him on Monday Night Raw after becoming a "Heyman Guy." Triple H decided to not only turn the Elimination Handicap Tag Team into a No Disqualification - in hopes that Heyman takes the beating of his life, but he also scheduled Axel to defend his title against Kofi Kingston to start off the pay-per-view (PPV) - as payment for the young champion's insolence. Axel disposed of the tough challenger with Hangman Facebuster to seal the win.
AJ Lee used her opponents' desire for gold to her advantage in her Fatal Four Way WWE Divas title match, taking on Total Diva cast-members Natalya, Brie Bella, and Naomi - all who wanted revenge on AJ for verbally lacing into their ambition and aspirations. The Total Divas originally teamed up against the champ but then turned on each other with Natalya cinching a Sharpshooter on both Naomi and Brie at the same time before taking a boot to the face from AJ, who then forced Natalya to tap out to her Black Widow hold.
Rob Van Dam was eager to add the the World Heavyweight Championship to his championship resume - which includes the WWE Title and the ECW Heavyweight title - taking on Alberto Del Rio for the championship. Desperate to hold on to his title at all cost, Del Rio locked the Cross Armbreaker on Van Dam, who reached the ropes to have the hold unlocked, only for Del Rio to ignore the referees count, giving RVD the disqualification victory. Del Rio retained the championship despite losing the match and tried to eliminate RVD as future competition, attempting to finish the job after the match, only to have Ricardo Rodriguez make the save and help his new amigo set up the champion to eat a Van-Daminator as payback for the DQ.
The Miz defeated Fandango, in an impromptu match, forcing the flamboyant dancer to tap out to the Figure-Four Leglock.
CM Punk managed to eliminate Axel in the Elimination Handicap Tag Team, keeping good on his promise to eliminate the Intercontinental first. Using the lack of rules to his advantage, Punk smacked Axel with a Kendo stick, the GTS and the Anaconda Vise-Grip to make Axel tap out. Punk then chased Heyman around the arena, catching him, handcuffing him, and beat him within an inch of his life before Ryback came out and speared Punk straight through a table - ripping a huge gash to the Punk's back - and helping Heyman get the pinfall win over his former protege.
The members of The Shield all kept their gold, when it was all said and done at Night of Champions. First, The Shield's Dean Ambrose successfully defended his United States title, beating Dolph Ziggler after the champion nailed his Headlock Driver on the challenger for the pinfall win while Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns took care of a tired Prime Time Players team that was worn down after having won the Tag-Team Turmoil challenge earlier in the night, making it a clean sweep for "the hounds of justice."
After weeks of attacks from The Shield, WWE Champion Randy Orton, and even The Big Show (at the behest of WWE COO Triple H), Daniel Bryan finally made it to his championship rematch at Night of Champions, after losing his title to "The Viper" - with help from Triple H - at SummerSlam, when Orton cashed in his Money In The Bank suitcase at the conclusion of the Bryan-John Cena main event.
Bryan's luck look to be running out when he drop-kicked Orton into the official, who got knocked out by the champion. The action continued with a new a referee in the ring, before Bryan dodged an RKO and nailed Orton with a side kick to set up the running knee finisher he used to beat John Cena at Summerslam. With the original referee now back in the ring to call the match after recovering, Bryan pinned Orton and won back the WWE Title that eluded him at SummerSlam to cap off the show.
