It's the time of year to start sleeping with your nightlight on. The days are getting shorter, the nights longer. Soon enough, Jack O'Lanterns will lights up haunted stoops across the country. The colder months will drive the night dwellers and boogie men indoors. But perhaps most terrifying will be the return of "American Horror Story."

Fans of the eerie drama series have anxiously been awaiting its third season, dubbed "Coven." Horror is entertaining. It's riveting. You can feel it in your bones. So naturally, they're eager to dig up any details on the forthcoming season before its premiere. And what better juicy gossip than the arrival of Jessica Lange’s love interest?

As The Hollywood Reporter reports, showrunner Ryan Murphy tweeted on Sunday that Danny Huston, from “Magic City,” will join the Season 3 cast. He joins the ranks of Jessica Lange as a witch named Fiona, Kathy Bates as historical personage and serial killer Madame LaLurie, and Angela Bassett, who plays voodoo expert and cult leader Marie Laveau. Huston, who Murphy describes as “sexy” and “dangerous,” will join as the boyfriend of Lange’s Fiona.

“Coven” tells the story of witches and their craft in America. More than 300 years have passed since the Salem trials, which struck fear and a common misconception into the hearts of puritans across New England, and now all those that managed to escape are on the brink of extinction. In today’s day and age, young witches are being sent to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. But when one particular student, Zoe, arrives with a terrifying secret of her own, Fiona makes her return with a cold blooded thirst to save Coven at all costs.

“American Horror Story” will return to FX October 9.
